SIREN PERMANENT TAP

Our newest permanent tap launches 1st May and is dedicated to Siren, An excellent brewery from Reading who have established themselves as one of the top producers in the UK. Expect some amazing sours, IPA and barrel aged specials!
We spoke to Tim from the brewery recently about all things Siren...

Which one of your beers best defines Siren as a brewery?

The most popular answer would probably be Sound Wave, but I think it would be our barley wine, Maiden. Maiden was the first beer ever brewed at Siren, and it went straight into barrels. Each year we create a blend from a variety of different barrels and that year's fresh Maiden, with anything taken out of barrels being topped back up in a form of a solera system. I think the creativity, initiative and forward thinking of the project encapsulates what Siren is all about.

What would be your desert island beer and why?

If it was a Siren beer, I would go Calypso. If I’m stuck on a hot desert island then I want something cold and refreshing. I can drink sours all day long in the summer. It's also very apt, as Calypso is named after a nymph in Greek mythology, who lived on the island of Ogygia, where, according to the Odyssey, she detained Odysseus for seven years! Non Siren...it would probably be Cantillon Kriek.

Will we see Siren in cans anytime soon?

Ah, you read our minds! We held off for quite a long time, as we found there were very few canning lines available that could meet or exceed the quality we were getting in bottles, without being prohibitively expensive and wildly beyond what we needed.
In late 2018 we made the decision to raise capital through crowd-funding, largely to support bringing in a canning new line we'd identified as meeting our needs. Cans should be up and running by July!

What are your plans for the rest of the year?

We’re always non-stop! Next up is Project Barista, with four new coffee beers launching at a brewery party on Saturday 18th May. It’s then full focus towards brewery expansion and canning.

Our permanent Siren tap launches 1st May in six°north bars.
