We recently dipped our toes into the world of hop-farming, working closely with a Hatton farmer on dwarf Pioneer variety trials. We also called on the expertise of Sandra Gordon & Euan Caldwell from The James Hutton Institute during this process. The James Hutton Institute carried out a four year trial (2014 - 2018) to determine the feasibility of Scottish hops as a viable commercial crop. We look to use this research to inform the six°north homegrown hop programme going forward.

Today we had Hartlepool’s finest Donzoko in the house to brew a collab. Donzoko main man Reece really started making waves last year with the release of the excellent Northern Helles. He has just started contract brewing in London with Gypsy Hill so you can expect to see a lot more of his superb beers.
We brewed a hoppy Pilsner together utilising two of our favourite German hop varieties (Mandarina Bavaria and Saaz).

On 31st August we welcomed over 400 beer lovers into our Laurencekirk brewery for the first time to enjoy 20 beers on tap, cocktails, gins & live music! We also held a charitable street art auction with £1,949 being raised for four Scottish charities. A great day was had by all! Maybe we’ll do it again sometime.
